The Rev. Dr. Ann Michele Rogers Brigham, Pastor
Greetings and welcome to the Congregational Church of Almaden Valley, United Church of Christ (CCAVUCC). If you are a long time member or just meeting us for the first time, I hope you’ll feel the warmth and care of this congregation and know there is a sincere invitation for you to join us for worship, fellowship and mutual ministry. We joyfully say we are an “open and affirming” congregation and mean that in all aspects of the words.
Let me share a little about my background in order to introduce myself to you. I arrived December 1, 2012 to serve CCAV-UCC as the ½ time pastor. My ordained ministry as a campus minister/chaplain, pastor, pastoral counselor has taken me from south Florida to Bangkok, Thailand, to the Boston metro area and Cape Cod, MA, to Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, to Hinesburg, Vermont, and, now, to San Jose, CA.
My formal education began at Mississippi College, Clinton, MS, where I earned a B.A. in Psychology and Music. I graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY and was ordained by Southern Baptists in 1979. My focus was campus ministry so I worked for ten years with college students in Miami, FL, Bangkok, Thailand, and Waltham, MA. I asked for privilege of call and a transfer of my ministerial standing into the United Church of Christ in 1989 (this was granted by the Boston Metro Association in the MA Conference, UCC).
My work as a local UCC pastor began in Woburn, MA at the Montvale Church. I went on to serve the Union Congregational Church in East Walpole and The Federated Church of Orleans, Orleans, MA. My graduation with a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Psychology from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, MA (1993) and my certification as a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors, gave me training to offer pastoral counseling to my congregation and the communities where I serve.
I was the Pastor of the Immanuel UCC in Plymouth, WI (2007-10) and the Interim Pastor of the United Church Hinesburg (2010-2012). My journey has finally brought me to serve the Congregational Church of Almaden Valley, UCC. What joy it is to serve as pastor of this loving congregation in the heart of the Almaden Valley and to invite you to join us to share the faith journey started almost 50 years ago.
Thank you for your welcome to me; may I welcome you to our unique congregation, the Congregational Church of Almaden Valley, United Church of Christ?
