Rev. Michele Rogers Brigham

Greetings and welcome to the Congregational Church of Almaden Valley, United Church of Christ (CCAVUCC). I am delighted to be the new called, settled minister to the people of CCAVUCC.   I began my service on December 1, 2012.  I am glad to share a little about my journey in ministry so you can get to know me.

I am a native Mississippian, but I have lived my adult life in many places.  My ordained ministry has taken me from south Florida to Bangkok, Thailand, to the Boston metro area and Cape Cod, MA, to Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, to Hinesburg, Vermont, and, now, to San Jose, CA.  I’m blessed to have had many years of ministry as a campus minister/chaplain, pastor and pastoral counselor.

My formal education began at Mississippi College, Clinton, MS, where I earned a B.A. in Psychology and Music. I went to the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY, to earn a Master of Divinity degree. After ordination with Baptists (1979) and work with college students in Miami, FL, and Bangkok, Thailand, I asked for transfer of ordination to the United Church of Christ (1989).  Soon after this, I graduated with a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Psychology from Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, MA (1993). Presently, I am active as a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and my ordained ministerial standing is in the Vermont Conference, United Church of Christ.

Through all these years of ministry, I have been supported and loved by my family. My adult children, Martha Brigham and Paul Brigham, and Paul’s daughter, Sierra, are the center of my life! Sadly, my husband, Bill Brigham, died in 2008.
